We are a group of 150+ strong, committed, and dynamic women, pledging to make a difference in the lives of girls and women in our community. We come from all walks of life with varied backgrounds and life stories. We share conversations, experiences, and wisdom with girls to inspire, educate and bring awareness to the many possibilities that life has to offer. We volunteer our time regularly, sometimes in person, sometimes virtually but always meaningfully. We invite you to join us in making a difference in the lives of girls today to ensure an equitable world tomorrow.
When you join 150+ Women Strong, your background and bio/story will be added to our directory of women mentors and you’ll be featured on our social media platforms as a woman making a difference in her community. In addition to regular mentoring opportunities, your yearly membership includes access to engaging networking events, social gatherings, enriching career opportunities and special mention at our annual Bling it On! gala.
By sharing our experiences, stories and advice with girls, we are helping to tackle systemic barriers and inspire girls to grow up strong, smart and bold — able and confident to break the cycle of poverty. We work to ensure girls have the knowledge, resources, and skills to live healthy lives and access meaningful educational opportunities. The work that we do changes the trajectory of girls’ lives and sets them up for lifelong success. Girls are innately powerful, and they are the strong, smart, and bold leaders our future needs. When girls are given the tools and opportunities to succeed, not only do they change their own circumstances, they also change the circumstances of others around them. THEY CHANGE THE WORLD!
Mentor. Girls Inc. of Greater Miami believes in the power and strength of mentoring. As a member of 150+ Women Strong, you will have an opportunity to share your career path and offer career advice to our girls. You may be contacted by one of our girls for a mentoring session. Our Founder and President, Virginia Akar, will hold a brief coaching session for our 150+ Strong Women on our strategies for mentoring our girls to be Strong, Smart and Bold for any member that would like to participate.
Network. Connect with other like-minded 150+ Women Strong. You will have the opportunity to come together quarterly to get to know one another on a deeper level. The launch event for 150+ Women Strong will take place Fall 2021, we look forward to seeing you there!
