Girls Inc. of Greater Miami provides free in-school and after school programs to help girls develop skills in Self-Awareness, Self-Management, Social Awareness, Responsible Decision Making and Relationship Skills.
Our programs ignite curiosity naturally by appealing to the interests of our girls and incorporating STEM concepts and creating practical opportunities to experiment using newly learned skills.
During our in-school PE Algo-Rhythms™ program, girls learn algorithms and computational thinking through dance by analyzing songs and dance moves. They learn about data collection and analysis by creating fitness plans, tracking data and measuring fitness. They learn about the engineering design process through game design, creating games for different purposes using design thinking and engineering cycles. They learn to work together, listen to each other’s ideas, test ideas, make mistakes and problem solve both independently and in groups.
Learn about algorithms while moving your body. Learn/Create your own dances and engage in fun activities, all while finding correlations to algorithms. Tap into the rhythm of dance to learn the beauty of algorithms! The PowerPoint below will guide you on your AlgoRhythm fitness journey.
