Research-Based Programming

Facilitated by teachers that we train from each partner school, our after school program meets for 6 hours each week to engage in a creative and intentional evidence-based Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) curriculum that begins with 10 minutes of mindfulness at each meeting. Our free after school program helps girls develop skills in Self-Awareness, Self-Management, Social Awareness, Responsible Decision Making and Relationship Skills.  We do this in a fun, interactive and energetic setting designed to provide girls with relevant tools to help manage stress factors that interfere with academic learning and enjoyment of life. When the daily stresses are properly managed, our girls develop a positive attitude toward school, lead physically and mentally healthier lives and are better able to make positive choices. Our girls are hopeful about their futures and have the support needed to pave the way to higher education and career readiness.

Social and Emotional Impact

Research and Evidence
“An extensive body of rigorous research (including randomized control trials, longitudinal follow-ups, and multiple replications) demonstrates that education that promotes social and emotional learning (SEL) gets results, and that teachers in all academic areas can effectively teach SEL. These findings come from multiple fields and sources that include student achievement, neuroscience, health, employment, psychology, classroom management, learning theory, economics, and the prevention of youth problem behaviors.”
