Over the past three years, Victoria  has experienced remarkable growth—and her mother credits much of it to the support and structure provided by Girls Inc. What began as an afterschool program quickly became a space where Victoria could flourish emotionally, socially, and behaviorally.

According to her mother, the transformation has been so significant that she could easily write an essay about it. But at the heart of it all, she says, is how Girls Inc. helped Victoria build self-esteem and strengthen her social skills. These changes have been especially meaningful as Victoria faced challenges many young girls experience during their formative years.

Her mother reflects on how much Victoria’s behavior has improved since joining Girls Inc., noting that the consistency, care, and encouragement from the staff made all the difference. The program not only created a safe space for Victoria to express herself but also guided her in developing tools to navigate social situations and build confidence.

As Victoria enters her final year with Girls Inc., there is a bittersweet feeling in the air. Her mother shares that they are both saddened by the fact that there currently isn’t a program for middle school girls. “We wish there was something for her to continue with,” she says, underscoring just how impactful the experience has been for both of them.

Grateful for the role Girls Inc. has played in their lives, Victoria’s mother is quick to express her appreciation. “I am so thankful for them and all they have done for me and my daughter,” she says.
